Changing the Global Face of Children's Medicine

Changing the Global Face of Children's Medicine

Wellbeing
22 MAY, 2019

Innovations in paediatric medicine and the global effort to treat rare and complex childhood diseases are the focus of this Majlis Mohamed bin Zayed session. The discussion highlights major advances in gene discovery and disease understanding, showing how neurological conditions once considered untreatable are now being addressed through novel therapies. The session introduces the Zayed Centre for Research, which is dedicated to developing cures for severe and previously incurable conditions. It also acknowledges a major contribution from Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, in supporting the creation of a specialised facility. This initiative aims to transform paediatric care through gene and cellular therapies, offering new hope to children worldwide and advancing the future of medicine.
